## Overview

Tasks bring manual follow-up into one place. They can prompt you to review and
send an email, call a person, or complete an action item such as preparing an
account plan. Each task has an assignee, priority, and due date.

Open [Tasks](https://app.unifygtm.com/dashboard/tasks) to see your work. Use
**To do** for open tasks and **Done** for completed or skipped work. Filter by
assignee to focus on your tasks, then open a row to review its instructions and
the associated person.

## Tasks from sequences

A sequence creates a task when a person reaches a manual email, phone call, or
action item step. The step supplies the draft or instructions, priority, and
due date. For example, a call step can give the rep notes to review and four
hours to make the call after the task becomes ready.

The sequence's [ruleset](/reference/sequences/rulesets#task-assignment) chooses
who receives these tasks when the person is enrolled. Automatic enrollments,
such as those from plays, and manual enrollments can use different assignment
settings.

Completing or skipping a task lets an active enrollment proceed to its next
step. To stop all remaining outreach for a person, use
[Remove from sequence](/reference/sequences/enrollments#remove-people).

See [sequence step types](/reference/sequences/sequence-step-types) to configure
these tasks and their timing.

## One-off follow-up

Use **New task** when you need to follow up independently of a sequence. For
example, create an action item to review a company's CRM history before your
next conversation. Choose the person, task type, assignee, due date, and
instructions in the task editor.

## Task notifications

[Notification preferences](/reference/notifications/preferences) determine
where you receive task alerts. If a sequence task goes to an unexpected
teammate, review its task assignment settings as well as your notification
preferences.
