## Overview

Create a one-off task when a person needs follow-up outside a sequence. For
example, schedule an action item to review their company's CRM history before
a discovery call. The task appears in the assignee's queue with the
instructions and timing you choose.

You can create tasks for yourself. Administrators can also assign tasks to
other workspace members.

## Create a task

<Steps>
  <Step title="Choose the person and action">
    Open [Tasks](https://app.unifygtm.com/dashboard/tasks) and click
    **New task**. Select the person, then choose the task type: an action item,
    phone call, or manual email.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Set the timing and instructions">
    Choose a priority and due date. Use **No due date** for work without a
    deadline, or select a preset or custom date and time. Administrators can
    choose the teammate responsible for the task.

    Write the instructions for an action item or call. For a manual email,
    select a connected sending mailbox and prepare the draft for the assignee
    to review.

    <ThemedImageFrame lightSrc="/images/reference/tasks/create-task-light.png" darkSrc="/images/reference/tasks/create-task-dark.png" alt="The Create task form for an account review, with Morgan Lee selected, medium priority, and a due date." />
  </Step>

  <Step title="Create the task">
    Click **Create task** to save the follow-up in the assignee’s queue. For
    manual emails, the separate **Send email** action sends the message
    immediately.

    The created task appears in **To do** for its assignee.
    Open it to review the saved instructions and details.
  </Step>
</Steps>

For repeatable outreach, configure a task step in a
[sequence](/reference/sequences/sequence-step-types). The step creates the task
when each enrolled person reaches it.

## Change task details

Open an unfinished task to change its priority or due date. For an action
item or call, use the pencil icon to edit the instructions. You can also
right-click a row to change its priority or due date without opening the
person's panel.

You can edit your own tasks. Administrators can edit other users' tasks and
use **Reassign** to change the assignee. These changes apply to the existing
task. To change who receives future sequence tasks, update the sequence's
[task assignment rules](/reference/sequences/rulesets#task-assignment).

## Update tasks in bulk

Use bulk actions when several tasks need the same change, such as moving
their due dates or handing work to another teammate.

<Steps>
  <Step title="Select the tasks">
    Filter **To do** to the work you need, then select the checkboxes beside
    the relevant rows.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Choose an action">
    Open **Select bulk action** at the bottom of the page. Each action shows
    the number of selected tasks it can affect.

    | Action | Use it to |
    | - | - |
    | Change priority | Give the selected tasks the same priority. |
    | Change due date | Reschedule the selected tasks. |
    | Reassign tasks | Transfer tasks to another teammate; administrators only. |
    | Mark as complete | Record that eligible tasks have been handled. |
    | Skip tasks | Close tasks whose actions are no longer needed. |
    | Remove from sequence | End the associated enrollments and their remaining outreach. |
  </Step>

  <Step title="Review and confirm">
    Check the affected task count and the confirmation's description before
    applying the change. A mixed selection can contain tasks that are
    ineligible for the chosen action.

    Completed and skipped tasks move to **Done**. Completing or skipping a
    sequence task lets an active enrollment proceed to its next step.
  </Step>
</Steps>
