## Overview

A mailbox group is a set of sending mailboxes you can select when enrolling
people in a sequence or configuring a play. Use a group to organize a team's
mailboxes or give a workflow several sending addresses to choose from.

Unify selects a mailbox from the group for each new enrollment, taking its
sending capacity and existing email backlog into account. The enrollment keeps
that sending mailbox as it progresses.

## Create a group

<Steps titleSize="h3">
  <Step title="Name the group">
    Open [Settings → Mailboxes](https://app.unifygtm.com/dashboard/settings/deliverability/mailboxes)
    and click **New group**. Enter a descriptive name, such as “Outbound team.”
  </Step>

  <Step title="Choose mailboxes">
    Select the mailboxes to add and review their assigned users and warmup
    status. Click **Create group**. The group appears in the **Groups** tab.
  </Step>
</Steps>

## Use a group

Choose the group in the mailbox selection when
[enrolling people](/reference/sequences/enrollments#add-a-person-to-a-sequence).
In a play's [Add to sequence action](/reference/plays/actions#mailbox-routing),
choose the group as part of the sending configuration.

Mailboxes still need to meet the workflow's eligibility requirements. Their
individual [sending limits](/reference/deliverability/sending-limits) apply
across every group and sequence that uses them.

## Update a group

Open the group from the **Groups** tab to change its name or mailbox membership,
then click **Update group**. Changes affect the mailbox choices for new
enrollments. To move eligible existing enrollments to another mailbox, use
[mailbox reassignment](/reference/sequences/enrollments#update-existing-enrollments).
